 Birds Singing in the Wind

The composer Mr. Liu Cong started to compose coloratura art songs in the 1990s, and “Birds Singing in the Wind” (1999, lyrics by Fan Xiaobin) is one of the excellent artistic works for coloratura soprano. This work is representative of the genre and subject matter of China’s recent call for a “green homeland”, and it is also unique in terms of its creative language and melodic development.

someone to watch over me

"Someone to Watch Over Me" is a 1926 song composed by George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, assisted by Howard Dietz who penned the title. It’s a classic jazz song that has many cover versions by outstanding musicians. The version I want to play is a light jazz version in cooperation with a classical pianist. I want to use my bass area to show the love story in my heart.

shallow

"Shallow" is a song performed by American singer Lady Gaga and American actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper. It was released through Interscope Records on September 27, 2018, as the lead single from the soundtrack to the 2018 musical romantic drama film, A Star Is Born. The version I cover is to express the different perspectives of men and women in contemporary society and their feelings about life through my own understanding.

(You Make Me Feel Like)
A Natural Woman

In this performance, I was a solo singer and covered American soul singer Aretha Franklin's Jazz music (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Instead of the original Jazz style, I incorporated the style of ballad because I feel the style of ballad can better convey the emotion that I want to deliver through this song. When I heard this song for the first time, I firmly believe I can hold this song because the lyrics resonates with my experience and story. I also invited a Jazz guitarist to co-create this song.

MY NEW
SINGLE

The Chinese ancient poetry art song “In the Water Side” is a popular song whose lyrics are taken from The Reed in Shi Jing·Guo Feng·Qin Feng. Based on the poem, the lyrics were simplified and popularized. The melody was so touching that it has been sung in many different versions.

I have always intended to rearrange this song that I enjoy by adding some Jazz elements so as to gain more popularity. It was a coincidence that I met Brandon who majors in music production at Berklee College of Music and he is quite interested in my idea of rearranging this song. We hit it off quickly and then produced the current presentation of the song.

About Me

Sensitivity and dullness, expression and listening, pain and healing----the delicate balance, is what links me to art.

I always believe that art comes from life, and that's why my inspiration will never run out
